Network Security

New threats drive better security. Every new technology brings a new set of security threats and ways to breach subscriber privacy. Besides traditional threats such as toll fraud and eavesdropping, VoIP technology has introduced a whole new set of threats to telecom security. Security managers now need to ward off registration hijacking, proxy impersonation, message tampering and denial of service attacks. Throw in the vulnerabilities in backbone networks, and the scope of network security becomes overwhelmingly large.

With multiple protocols, architectures and communication technologies simultaneously in play, network security is a major concern for all equipment manufacturers and communication service providers. Now more than ever, innovative tools need to be constantly developed to protect enterprises and users. Sysmetlab has the solutions and experience to help companies ensure the reliable and secure transmission of communications data.

Licensable Security Protocol Stacks

Port-Based Network Access Control (PNAC)

Sysmetlab’s Port-Based Network Access Control (PNAC) software is a portable implementation of IEEE standard 802.1X. It can provide security services in both LAN switches and Wireless LAN access points (APs). The PNAC software product reduces the time to market for NEMs and VARs who need to incorporate security services in their switching/routing equipment. When used in LAN switches, PNAC offers access control to protected resources existing in the switched network. When used in WLAN APs, it provides authentication of the WLAN stations and additionally improves security by using the periodically exchanged key used to encrypt the data. The PNAC solution can easily be ported to various leading operating systems and switch hardware using well-defined external interfaces.

It supports port authentication and MAC address authentication, and uses EAP-MD5, TLS and TTLS authentication. It also interfaces with RADIUS clients for authentication and key refreshing.

802.11i/Robust Security Network Association (RSNA)

Sysmetlab’s 802.11i/RSNA stack is a portable implementation of the IEEE 802.11i specification for Robust Security Network Association (RSNA) in Wireless LANs (WLANs). The stack is portable to several leading operating systems and wireless chipsets using well-defined external interfaces. RSNA reduces the time to market for NEMs and Value-Added Resellers (VARs) who wish to incorporate the 802.11i RSNA functionality into their WLAN products. Sysmetlab’s 802.11i RSNA provides enhanced network security, confidentiality of user information and full interoperability.

The software supports IEEE 802.11 infrastructure networks and 802.11 conformant devices. It can be used in access points as well as WLAN switch/controllers.
